Former cross country and track runner at Desert Hills High School. Happily married to my wonderful husband Trevor. I’ve overcome cancer twice, and I’m just trying to get back in to running shape again since finishing my treatments. Also studying digital design at DSU.

Woke up with a stupid head cold today. If it lasts as long as before I may shoot something... Ran 3 on the trails then another mile on the track. Plus 8 X100 finishes. I just jogged 6 then actually did the last two but my head hurt a lot during those and during the run.

Felt better today, but my head still hurt. I kept up with the girls until I turned around and kind of kept the pace on the way back, but it was a little slower.

I felt a lot better today, but my head still hurt a little bit the second half of the run. 4 easy miles at little black rock with Rachel, Chloé, Doty, Bri, Micah, Dallin and Josh. I turned around earlier than them though.

1/2 mile warm up then 3 mile run. Most of the run wasn't too bad but my head still hurt pretty bad on the up hill. I really want to keep up with the group on the trails though. I can on the roads, I've just got to not let my head get to me. 8x100 strides on the turf. I jogged the first 4 then did the last 4 like normal.

1/2 mile warm up, then threw the shot and discus for an hour. We had to wait for Goulding to open the weight room so I joined in their circuit thing they were doing around the turf with push-ups, burpees, v-ups, and planks. 3 laps of that. After weights I ran 2 miles, I feel so drained. I'll have to run before practice, or find some other way to get all my miles in.

 

Read through some of Meghan's old posts from her senior year and made me really re-evaluate where my mindset is right now. I'm definitely going to need to change some things in order to reach my goals this year. Gotta quit making excuses and put in the work!!

Well I feel like a slacker today. 1/2 mile warm up then threw the shot again today until about 4:15. After I ran toward Little Valley and about .8 I ran into coach and the boys and he had me turn around. Held an 8:30 until then then a 7:55 with them. I feel like my mind set was a lot better today as more focused, and now I just need to keep it there with the trails too. Did 4x100 meter strides because I wasn't sure if coach said go do them or don't do them... I thought I would be drained again today but I felt a lot better and I think I can do a couple more miles when it's roads.

After the warm up I lifted weights with the throwers then ran 3 down Hidden Valley. Felt like a really good run today. My head never hurt so that's good. I had an 8:25 pace but I did stop for a minute when my shoulder was tight and hurting. I need to figure out how to fix that. My arms are dead now, can't wait for Tabatta tomorrow... Actually I know it's a good thing. Hopefully my arms won't be so numb at the end of my races when I should be strongest.

Just a little frustrated today and I have a lot to work on. I guess I had a pretty strong finish, but I also feel like that means I wasn't pushing hard enough  through the workout. I need to work on my endurance definitely. I want to be able to get 9 laps by the next time I do the Vo2 max.

Lifted legs today then ran 4 on the trails behind the school. Debated the ridge, but decided I better not. My legs were definitely tired, but after a mile or so I started to loosen up. I felt a lot better today for sure. My pace was a couple minutes faster than it has been for trails, 10:22. I'm going to work on hills more, that's my weak spot right now. When I got home I took an ice bath and rolled out too. Thank goodness for an uncovered swimming pool.

One mile warm up then made it .8 miles in the 6 minutes. About a 7:30 pace, I needed to go a little faster, I don't really know what happened though. My watch was all over the place too. Full run was a 9 minute pace. My legs are pretty sore this week, another night to roll out. I really need to get back to running with the a group, I am going to BYU this year!

2.25 mile warm up to the school then I did the workout on my own. I made it about .72 around the track between the one minute intervals. I hope that's good! I did one 300 but I was definitely worn out, plus I didn't know how many B group was supposed to do. Then a 2.25 mile cool down.

The workout went pretty good I think. I just feel burned out. Trying to get used to doing more, so hopefully I won't feel like this for long. I definitely need to work on my mindset after today. 3 McGruff's hill repeats and 3 progression 400's.

If today were an easy day I would say it went pretty well. My overall pace was a 9:00 and I didn't feel dead afterward. But it wasn't. The tempo run today was going great but half way through I hit the hill on river road by tamarisk. It was hard to recover from that, so I'll just have to work on it more. Hit a mile at the 8:00. Goal for next tempo run is to hit my time even with the hill. I really think this week will be a lot bettter though.

3 this morning and 4 along the ridge this afternoon. I feel a lot better today, and I actually enjoyed running the ridge, weird.... I wasn't sure if I was really getting any better at running or throwing lately but when lifting legs today it was easier than it has been, even when I added weight. About a 10:00 pace average on the ridge. Good to finally feel good on runs again!

Good day of throwing today, I'm really excited to see how I'll do! 2 mile warm up, 2x1 mile repeats. Hit 7:05 for the first, 23 sec. slow... The second one I asked coach to help me out. Hit the first lap right on then slow on the second. He stopped me there, 2 minute recovery jog then did another lap at the same pace, 1:39. Recovery, then another at 1:41 and a mile cool down. Did some Tabatta on my own and stretching. I need to work on my breathing to keep it calm. I think I need to go faster on my easy days.

Tabatta this morning with Doty then we ran 2 miles up at Duck Creek, Cedar Mt. in the dark. So much fun and the snowmobiles we passed probably thought we were crazy. We were going to do the workout in the morning but worried about getting sick in the rain.
